Abstract

|
목 적 : 모성건강이 모성의 안녕뿐만 아니라 어린이의 건강을 위해 중요하나 개발도상국가에서 재생산기의 여성건강문제는 어린이 건강문제에 비하여 거의 주목을 받지 못하였다. 이 조사의 목적은 개발도상국, 특히 아시아 지역의 재생산기 여성건강상태를 파악하여 그 문제의 심각성을 제기하고, 모성건강증진정책을 제시하기 위한 것이다.
방 법 : 세계보건기구 등이 발표한 기존 문헌에서 모성사망 및 유병 통계자료를 모아 UN의 지역별로 정리하여 선진국과 개발도상국간에 비교였다.
결 과 : 모성사망비는 출생아 십만 명당 개발도상국은 480인데 선진국은 27이었다. 개발도상국의 높은 모성사망률은 높은 출산력, 불안전한 유산, 영양부족, 그리고 부실한 모성건강관리와 관련성이 있었다. 대부분의 모성건강문제는 경제적, 사회적, 그리고 문화적 배경에 깊은 뿌리를 두고 있었다.
결 론 : 모성건강증진을 위해 가족계획, 모성건강관리를 포함한 일차 보건의료의 강화와 여성교육 수준의 향상 및 여성차별철폐를 통한 여성의 사회ㆍ경제적 수준의 향상이 중요한 정책으로 제시되었다.

The importance of maternal health is well recognized not only for the well-being of women themselves but also for the health of their children. However, the health status of women in reproductive age has received relatively little attention compared with the health problem of children in the developing countries. Available data for maternal mortality and morbidity are summarized to address the important health problems of women in reproductive age in the developing countries, particularly in Asia. There is a wide gap in the maternal health status between developing and developed countries. High maternal mortality in the developing countries is related with high fertility, unsafe abortion, poor nutrition, and poor maternal care. Most of the maternal health problems are deeply rooted in the social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. The policy recommendations for the promotion of maternal health are made in two categories; provision of health care service for women and promotion of socioeconomic status of women.
